PSG Edges Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious trophy on 14 separate times.

The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders appeared to be sailing towards a straightforward triumph in the match featuring the French league champions and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele found the net in the opening stages.

However, Marseille fired twice late to take a surprise advantage. First, the English forward converted from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable turn of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a vital leveler in the dying seconds to force the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, saving crucial kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all converted with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a convincing shootout win.

The record winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the twelfth time in the last thirteen years.
